CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WTVD) — The Buffalo Bills are heading to the AFC Championship for the first time since 1994, two years before quarterback Josh Allen was born, after a 17-3 win over the Ravens.

If you’re a Carolina Panthers fan, you’re probably not happy about the Bills success or should I say the success of ‘Carolina North.’

What do I mean by Carolina North? Over the past few years, the Bills have taken the Panther’s scraps. For starters, Buffalo’s head coach Sean McDermott and General Manager Brandon Beane both came from Carolina in 2017.

Since then, they’ve brought more than 20 players from Carolina to Buffalo and not just any players but ones that have become key pieces to this season’s success.

Right now, there are 8 active Bills players with Carolina ties. Mario Addison, Vernon Butler, Cheap Josh Norman Jersey, Daryl Williams, AJ Klein, Dean Marlowe, Cheap Andre Smith Jersey and Bryan Cox Jr.

It’s not just players either but coaches, scouts and video personnel.

Was it wrong to let all of these people reunite in Buffalo?

Did the Panthers make a mistake?

I’m not saying that if the Panthers had found a way to make it work and keep some of these guys that they’d be the ones heading to the Conference Championship, but I’m also not not saying that.

Since 2017, the Panthers have only had one winning season going 11-5 in 2017 losing in the wild card round of the playoffs. Then in 2018 went 7-9 and finished 5-11 the past two seasons.

The Buffalo Bills have had three winning seasons since 2017 in 2017 (9-7), 2019 (10-6) and they’re currently 13-3 this season.

Call it a curse, call it a coincidence but I’m just calling it how I see it.

The Bills will face the winner of the Browns and Chiefs game next Sunday in the AFC Championship Game with a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is inactive for their meaningless regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers, which means he will finish with 4,740 yards, 38 touchdowns and six interceptions.

It also means Chad Henne will start his first game since September 2014 with Cheap Matt Moore Jersey backing him up.

Also inactive for the Chiefs, who have wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the AFC and its first-round playoff bye, are wide receivers Tyreek Hill (hamstring) and Sammy Watkins (calf), running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle), linebacker Ben Niemann (hamstring) and right tackle Mike Remmers (back). Strong safety Tyrann Mathieu is a healthy scratch.

Chiefs running back Le’Veon Bell and defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi are active despite missing practice time with knee injuries this week. So are defensive tackle Chris Jones, who needs 2 1/2 sacks to earn a $1.25 million bonus, and tight end Travis Kelce.

The Saints will be without their regular backfield with running backs Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray going on the COVID-19/reserve list earlier this week. Ty Montgomery is expected to be the Saints primary running back, although Taysom Hill could get some carries.

Carolina will also be without its top two running backs with Cheap Christian McCaffrey Jersey and Cheap Mike Davis Jersey because of injuries. McCaffrey, an All-Pro in 2019, has missed 13 games this season because of injuries. The Panthers also will be without its top pass rusher in defensive end Cheap Brian Burns Jersey and starting left tackle Cheap Russell Okung Jersey.

Receiver Larry Fitzgerald is inactive for the final game of the Arizona Cardinals’ regular season against the Los Angeles Rams.

The famed veteran receiver has a groin injury that will keep him out of what could have been his final game. The 37-year-old Fitzgerald hasn’t said whether he will play next season, and the Cards will miss the playoffs if they lose to Los Angeles.

Cardinals safety Budda Baker also is active after being listed as questionable with a neck injury.

Rams rookie running back Cam Akers is active after missing just one game with a high ankle sprain. Los Angeles already is without leading rusher Darrell Henderson and starting quarterback Jared Goff because of injuries.

Newly signed Blake Bortles will be the backup for Rams quarterback John Wolford, who will make his NFL debut.

Indy will try to make the playoffs short handed. The latest blow came Sunday afternoon when No. 3 running back Jordan Wilkins was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers wide receiver Cheap Curtis Samuel Jersey and right tackle Cheap Taylor Moton Jersey are set for big paydays as unrestricted free agents. In all likelihood, the team won’t be able to re-sign both due to salary-cap restraints.

They could lose both.

But if they put their effort into signing one, which makes the most sense?

Coach Matt Rhule called Samuel a “difference-maker” after the fourth-year receiver/running back posted career highs in rushing (52 yards) and receiving (106 yards) in Sunday’s 20-13 win at Washington. Samuel’s unselfish, tough-guy approach fits the profile of the type of player Rhule wants to build around.

“When your best players are tough-minded, you know, hardworking guys, you have a chance to win,” Rhule said. “Every time Curtis makes a play, everyone’s excited.”

Moton is a player Rhule loves for many of the same reasons. The former Western Michigan standout offers stability on the right side of the line as a run blocker and pass protector. He seldom gives up a sack or quarterback hurry and is durable — he’s never missed a game due to injury.

“He’s an excellent player,” Rhule said. “He’s an excellent professional. He’s an even better person. When we talk about the brand, he’s all of that.”

With left tackle a must-get in the offseason with injury-prone Cheap Russell Okung Jersey likely to be unsigned, it would be a tall order to replace both tackles. Quarterback Cheap Teddy Bridgewater Jersey — or any QB, for that matter — is only as good as his pass protection.

Moton likely will ask for a multiyear deal somewhere in the range of $14 million to $15 million per season. The Panthers (5-10), with a projected 2021 salary cap of $176 million, would have only $12,245,770 in cap room, according to Over the Cap.

Samuel might come cheaper, but he would be more of a luxury to keep. The Panthers already have two 1,000-yard receivers in DJ Moore and Cheap Robby Anderson Jersey. Both also are under contract next year.

Then there’s the Cheap Christian McCaffrey Jersey factor. Injuries that have kept the 2017 first-round pick out for 12 games — and likely a 13th in Sunday’s finale against New Orleans — have helped Samuel emerge as a difference-maker.

A healthy McCaffrey in 2021 would mean fewer touches for Samuel, particularly as it pertains to playing running back.

Both are jack-of-all-trade players who can play receiver and running back. But McCaffrey is the ultimate difference-maker, one of three players in NFL history who has recorded 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season.

Samuel, in beer or soda terms, would be classified as difference-maker lite.

As impressive as Samuel has been at times, rushing 38 times for 197 yards and two touchdowns and catching 70 passes for 733 yards and three touchdowns, he doesn’t dominate games the way McCaffrey can.

The Panthers likely can replace Samuel’s skill set with a lower-priced free agent or a draft pick. Now projected to pick eighth, a stellar receiver is more likely to be available than a quarterback or left tackle.

Replacing Moton would be more difficult.

To Samuel’s credit, and another reason Rhule loves the former Ohio State star, is he’s not focused on the offseason. Samuel’s focus on Sunday was doing what he could to help get a win.

When told Rhule called him a difference-maker, Samuel responded humbly.

“Sometimes when things probably are not going right for our offense, sometimes I go out there and make plays, get the team started, get the excitement going, just get everything going,” Samuel said. “Like I say all the time, any time I get the opportunity to touch the ball, make the most of it.”

Samuel made the most out of his opportunities on Sunday, particularly a crucial 45-yard run in which his juke left a Washington defender grasping air. That and a 44-yard catch later made Samuel one of seven players to have two plays of 40-plus yards (one receiving, one rushing) in the same game since he entered the NFL in 2017.

Samuel will attempt to make the most of his opportunities again Sunday against New Orleans. His skill set would be a good fit for the Saints.

But it won’t be to prove his value to the Panthers or any other team.

“My mindset this year wasn’t about proving anything,” Samuel said. “It was just showing what I can do, to myself. Just going out there and playing like I was in college, like I played my whole life — enjoying the game, having fun, all around the field, making plays for the team to put us in positions to win.”

t’s crunch time. Get ready for game day, and don’t forget the chips when the Panthers face the Vikings on Sunday. Here are five things to watch for in the matchup.

GETTING SOME GUYS BACK

As much as anything, the Panthers are trying to create some sense of stability this season without swinging wildly in any particular direction from week to week.

The hope is that will eventually translate into season to season, but for now, they’ll work with what they have.

Quarterback Cheap Teddy Bridgewater Jersey will be back on the field this week after he was held out last Sunday against the Lions because of a slight right knee injury. Honestly, it would probably take a restraining order to keep Bridgewater off the field in Minnesota, where his career started and nearly ended because of his 2016 left knee injury.

There were also promising signs with left tackle Cheap Russell Okung Jersey and right guard Cheap John Miller Jersey back on the practice field this week. While no one said it out loud, those two being out last week likely played into the decision to give Bridgewater a week to heal, and backup Cheap P.J. Walker Jersey did a good enough job to lead them to the win.

Running back Cheap Christian McCaffrey Jersey won’t be back until after the bye week (and he did more in practice this week as he comes back from his shoulder injury), but the Panthers are getting closer to what they’re used to on offense, which can only help.

Kirk Cousins

COUSINS ON A ROLL

The Vikings have committed themselves to quarterback Kirk Cousins, and their fate generally swings with his performance.

Early on this season, when he was turning it over all the time, that put them in a hole they may not be able to dig out from.

But for his part, he’s played incredibly well since the bye.

In the four games since their break, Cousins has thrown nine touchdowns and just one interception, has completed 71.0 percent of his passes, averaging 9.9 yards per attempt, and has a passer rating of 128.2.

That’s allowed him to put an ugly start behind him, as he held the league lead in interceptions earlier this year (only recently yielding it to Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz), but has bounced nicely.

TAKE YOUR TIME TEDDY

This isn’t the typical Vikings’ defense we’re used to seeing, primarily because they lack anything resembling a pass rush.

After losing defensive end Danielle Hunter to a season-ending injury, then flipping trade acquisition Yannick Ngakoue to the Ravens in October, the Vikings are making do with a bunch of third-day picks (if that) up front.

Ngakoue had five sacks in his six games there, and there’s a good chance he could be the team leader in that category at season’s end, as no one else on the roster has more than three at the moment.

Adam Thielen

SHORTHANDED ON BOTH SIDES

The Panthers will be without cornerback Cheap Donte Jackson Jersey again this week as they try to let his problematic toe injury heal.

The Vikings could have an equivalent absence on the other side of the ball.

Wide receiver Adam Thielen has been on the reserve/COVID-19 list since Monday, and reports suggested he might not be cleared in time to play this week.

He had a huge game last time out, with eight catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns last week against Dallas. His 11 touchdown receptions are a league-high, as he’s become Cousins’ go-to target after they traded Stefon Diggs to the Bills this offseason.

Thielen has been especially dangerous in the red zone, with 10 of his touchdowns coming inside the 20-yard line.

The Vikings can still be effective on offense, especially with the way running back Dalvin Cook has performed this year, but being without Thielen would be a major blow.

GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN

The Panthers are on a bit of a roll against teams that employ the franchise’s original coach, Dom Capers.

The 70-year-old Capers, who coached the Panthers from 1995-98 and led the expansion team to the NFC Championship Game in its second year, now works as a senior defensive consultant with the Vikings.

The Vikings are his seventh team since he left Charlotte, including long stints as the Texans’ head coach (2002-05) and the Packers’ defensive coordinator (2009-2017).

The last three times they’ve seen Capers, the Panthers have won, including last year’s game against Jacksonville and the 2015 and 2017 games against the Packers. He had won the previous four meetings with the Panthers (1999 with the Jaguars, 2003 with the Texans, and 2011 and 2014 with the Packers).
